Bakery UPC Numbering System The UPC is a 12-digit (sometimes referred to as an 11-digit, depending on whether
people include the random weight "2" or a check digit), all-numeric code that
identifies consumer retail packages.
This book includes category listings and an alphabetical cross-reference. The category listings for Bread Products include varieties of bread, biscuits, buns, croissants, rolls,
bread crumbs, breadsticks, croutons, bagels, tortillas, and pita bread. The category
listings for Sweet Goods include varieties of cakes such as: cheese, decorated, non-iced,
variety, whipped cream, coffee, crumb, cupcakes, as well as codes for miscellaneous/candy
items, cookies, brownies, squares, bar cookies, danish, desserts and dessert pastries,
dessert shells, donuts, ethnic items, muffins, and pies.
